Great Outdoor Wedding Venues in the Finger Lakes

If you’re dreaming of an outdoor wedding near Rochester, Buffalo or Syracuse, New York — whether rustic chic or elegant garden romance — there are some really lovely and beautiful venues worth considering. Here are a few favorites that stand out to me.

Seneca Ridge

The venue’s house, which can be rented for the weekend or just getting ready, is filled with charm and spacious room.

I am a sucker for sail cloth tents so obviously this venue ranks highly on my list of amazing wedding venues in the Rochester and Syracuse region. Not only tent is amazing but the house is massive and possesses a ton of character and rooms to work with. I also had the opportunity to meet the owners as well and they are delightful and warm.

Wadsworth Homestead

The mansion at Wadsworth is huge, brimming with cozy nooks, charming wallpaper, and cute, spacious rooms.

The property is vast and offers a plethora or options to roam for photos, especially for ones at sunset.

The main ceremony site sits beneath a massive oak tree, providing much needed shade on a hot summer day.

Wadsworth offers a unique and beautiful sunroom for photography on any wedding day

My personal favorite room in the house is the sunroom. White walls and overfilled with plants.

It should be fairly obvious why this wedding venue is a favorite of mine. Most wedding venues have killer features but also lack in some ways… Like an amazing ceremony site but terrible getting ready options, or beautiful home but reception scene is lackluster. Wadsworth, from start to finish, really has it all going for them. Even their tent reception, which normally I would say tents are meh, has a ton of personality as it’s tucked into the gardens/woods.

Inns of Auroa

At the Inns of Aurora, there are some stellar old stone ruins which are just a blast to utilize for photos.

Attention to detail in the landscaping and tenting is a unique and eye catching feature of this venue.

Inns of Aurora rooms and getting ready for wedding

Inns of Aurora is more than just the hotel. They have multiples other houses down the road for rent.

Nestled right on main street, the Inns of Aurora offer convenience being walking distance to local restaurants, shops and their associated rental homes. The entire property borders Seneca Lake and looks to the west for gorgeous sunsets which is a main reason this is one of my favorite wedding venues in the Finger Lakes.

Wrens Roost

The pond is absolutely one of the main features of Wrens Roost and shares a mountain backdrop with the rest of the property.

With everything all in one small area, everyone can roam without feeling isolated, but still take in the vast beauty of the horizon, from anywhere you go.

The new pavilion is a beautifully built timber frame reception, conveniently adjacent to the pond and ceremony site.

The tall grasses and rolling hills with the mountains in the background are the absolute perfect canvas for any photographer to work with.

It may be the last venue on the list, but that certainly doesn’t mean it’s my least favorite. This place rocks and each and every time I receive a wedding inquiry for here I try my darndest to book it. If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful, and beautiful place to get married at, look no further. Also if you like whiskey, you have to check out Hollerhorn Distillery which is just a stones throw away down the road - they also host smaller weddings!
